Getting Started
Munchlog lets you track what you eat by just talking (or typing). We convert your description into estimated calories, protein, carbs, and fat—fast and casual.
- Sign in with Google to open your dashboard.
- Log your first meal using voice or text (e.g., “two peanut butter sandwiches and a coffee with milk and two teaspoons of sugar”).
- See macro estimates + margin of error so you know how rough the numbers are.
That’s it—no databases, no complex setup.
Log Meals (Voice/Text)
Use voice for speed or text for precision. Both produce the same kind of entry.
- Voice: Tap the mic and speak naturally in one go. We transcribe and parse foods, amounts, and common add‑ons (milk, sugar, oil, sauces).
- Text: Type exactly how you’d say it (e.g., “1 cup cornflakes with milk and 1 banana; coffee with milk and 2 tsp sugar”).
- “Last meal” & “Today so far”: The dashboard shows your latest meal and a short, coherent summary of what you’ve had so far today.
Macros & Margin of Error
For each meal, we estimate calories, protein, carbs, and fat. We also show a Margin of Error (MOE) to reflect uncertainty from vague portions, varied recipes, or brand differences.
- No in‑house database: We don’t maintain any food database.
- Where do numbers come from? AI uses general nutrition knowledge from “out there.”
- What increases MOE? Phrases like “some rice,” homemade recipes, missing quantities, or uncommon foods.
- Lower the MOE: Include amounts (cups, grams, slices) and call out add‑ons (oil, butter, sugar, sauces).
Important: Treat results as approximations—use them to stay mindful, not for medical decisions.
Summaries & Reports
- Daily summary: A plain‑English recap (e.g., “two coffees and a sandwich so far”) plus a macro breakdown.
- History & trends: Look back across days to spot patterns—busy days, low‑protein days, etc.
- Optional goals: If you’ve told us your calorie/protein goals, we’ll show progress bars against them.
Privacy & Data Security
- We store only: the transcribed meal text and the macro estimates for each meal.
- No voice storage: We don’t keep your audio recordings.
- No selling or sharing: Your data isn’t sold or shared with third parties.
Tips for Accurate Logging
- Use amounts where possible: cups, grams, slices, teaspoons.
- Mention add‑ons: oil, butter, sauces, sugar, spreads.
- Group a meal in one entry (breakfast/lunch/dinner) for cleaner summaries.
- If something’s unusual (very large portion, special recipe), say so.
Troubleshooting
- Saved something wrong? Entries can’t be edited yet. You can add a new entry that reflects the correction.
- Voice didn’t catch right? Use the text box below the transcript to fix words before saving—no need to switch modes.
- Stuck or frozen? Refresh the page. Your previous entries are already saved.
